You must find the location where the springs make less noise. Try moving a spring at a time, turning it a little. 1/4 turn at a time from the first part where you hear more noise. I have reduced the noise but without eliminating them. I'd like to try to eliminate the noise by placing rubber hoses on the first and last coils. Maybe I will try sooner or later...
Anyway... 40 mm are too much with the stock shock-absorbers. The springs are not compressed when the shock-absorbers are full extended.
