Review of the Whiteline rear anti-roll bar (swaybar) Part Number : BDR37

Eagerly ripping open the package, I found the installation instruction sheet (only got two pictures and no text), a bag of nuts, clamps, polyurethane bushes and THE bar.

While trying the install the bar, found that the two U-clamps supplied in the kit are too short. Darn, had to lower the car from the jackstands and drive to screw shop in Ubi to buy correct sized ones (thank God, the shop carries them). Drive back home, place the car back on jackstands and crawl under again. New clamps fits and the installation went without a hitch. Time for test drive!

The YRV comes with stock front 24mm anti-roll bar, but no rear anti-roll bar. Decided not to mess with the front bar (as its a FWD) and added the 22mm rear bar. After the addition of the rear bar, can't really feel if there is less bodyroll, but turn in is sharper. Perfect! This is the type of sharp turn in I'm looking for. Car feels much more planted to the ground through the corner. But alas, now with the sharper handling another flaw of the car is revealed.... the tyres. As I am able to turn into the corner at a much faster entry speed, the tyres get very vocal. I guess I will upgrade to stickier rubbers next time when these wear out.

Note that the car is still on stock turbo springs and dampers. I've mentioned in earlier posts that while the springs are stiff enough, the dampers are way too weak. Car feels very under dampened that I nicknamed my car "Sir Bounce-alot". So now "Sir Bounce-alot" corners more steadily with the new rear swaybar but still cannot shake off his nickname. So now the galant "Sir Bounce-alot" will join "King Ah-Ter" in the search for the holy grail....erm.... I meant dampers.

In conclusion, the rear anti-roll bar is definitely value for money, I rate it 4.5 upon 5 for value for money, 2/5 for ease of installation (lousy instructions) and overall 3/5 (must deduct points for shipping with wrong size U-clamps)

I paid AUD$212.36 including shipping and handling

hope this helps
