Differential L251

Hello,

Is there please any topic about Differential Transmission components removal with pictures?

Thanks

It's about my sisters Cuore L251.

Due to a leaking oil from the transmission for a long time, it ended with an excessive play between the left drive shaft end and the differential.

I intend to replace the differential and would like you help me with the procedure if any?

Is it possible to just pull out the clutch case from transmission case to have access to the differential and remove it alone without touching any other gear?

Thanks for any wise tips.

I think to solve the problem it would be easier to buy an used transmission.
The 5ha gear of the L251 has a "left" and a "right" part picture

At first you have to remove the cap on the left side. Then you have to remove the 5. Gear and some other parts. Afterwards you have to release the middle part. And then you can release both gear shafts and the differential. Much work.

But for the first step, before you start to work at the gear: Try to remove the left drive shaft from the gear and check the snap ring. (in this picture on the left side). Take some light and take a look into the differential. It seems to me that the left drive shaft is not engaged, so maybe the snap ring was broken.

A damage of the differential is very unusual.

Sorry fo my bad english...if you do not understand everythink just ask!

Thanks for your answer.

Indeed, this is unusual but unfortunately it happens to my differential.

The drive shaft is well plugged in the gear. But this was not the case two years before and that's what caused the oil leak resulting in an excessive wear of the differential and the drive end (pictures will follow later)

In fact, I've already bought an used transmission with damaged clutch case. I intend to swap it with my clutch case, so I'll end with a combined transmission assembly (my clutch case+used transmission)

My question are:

Is it possible to just remove the clutch case from the transmission without disassembling the input and output shafts?

Or, it is mandatory to disassemble all starting from left (cover and 5th gear) till the differential?

Here is where I am now with two transmissions:

Existing transmission: damaged differential
Used transmission: damaged clutch case

NB. Let's say a transmission assembly is composed of three parts: clutch case + transmission case + cover (left)
