Hi guys,this is my 1°post>I'm Mirko from Italy and i'm owner of a Daihatsu Sirion 1.5 Sport.I don't speak German and i beg your pardon.I would open a post for the shitty Daihatsu brakes but i've read that it's the same for you...After 8K km i've swapped my front semi -warped rotors with a pair of VW Golf Ø55 lightly modified because my brakes are the same of the Materia and you can't find nothing for this car.After tons of research i've founded also that EBC makes the Green pads for the Mazda2 that are the same of the Materia.The braking is better now and the rotors are not warped.Do you know if in Germany there are pads for the Sirion 1.57Materia?

Hi grey! Welcome to our forum!
I've got a Materia 1,3 but actually didn't face brake problems because it only ran 14.000km since I bought it. But also I'm searching for special brake pads, but didn't find any for the Materia yet :heul:. But I guess that the brakes of the Toyota bB should be the same as in the Materia, and I found EBC Green Stuff pads for the bB on eBay. Maybe I didn't quite get it, but where did you get the brake discs withe the spiral grooves from? From a VW Golf???? If so, what did you modify to get them fitted?? Greetings |
First of all you've to see what type of rotors you have.On Sirion Sport-materia 1.3-1.5 they should be Ø254mm.If you see the Golf-Ibiza-Passat are the same in terms of dimensions
http://bremboaftermarket.com/It/Car_...IDMaster=38408 What change is the hub hole that it's larger..i've bought the rotors from Omnicompetition in Italy that made me a round spacer for install em on the hub. For the pads i'm sure that are the same of the Mazda2 1.4TD-1.5Sport from 2007,i've to check the right code and i'll post it.I bouhgt pads in UK from EBCdirect i think.I will check and i'll tell you |
Now I got it :gut:
Did the change from the oem-rotor to a rotor with grooves increase the braking performance? Or is it more an optical effect? And how long are you driving with this brake-setup? I would like to know how much it wears down (had performance-brakes on my motorbike; performance was awesome, but the pads and rotors didn't last very long). On the other hand, I don't think it would be street-legal (at least in Germany) to mount a rotor from a VW to a Daihatsu with an adaptor, because it is not approved. In case of an accident, if the insurance company finds out about this modification, I don't think I would be happy... But I'm still very interested about the Green Stuff pads. |

@Daniel,
d.h., es gibt die Blackstuff für einige Daihatsus? Wie schon geschrieben gibt es die Greenstuff ja für den Toyota bB. Weißt Du evtl., ob die gleich sind? |
