Standard My Applause II

Well i promised i will present my car. These pictures are ~3 years old, im curently away from my car so i dont have better ones. I will upload new ones as soon as i come home.

So, its a 1998 Applause, 5 speed manual, 1.6i 73kw 138nm. I bought it Germany 6 years ago with only 47 000km. It was practicly new. As soon as i came home i installed LPG system. Price of LPG in my country is over 50% lower than unleaded, and almost every petrol car runs on LPG. I have some alpina speakers in the front and in the back, player is SOny CDX-F7500. That is all of modifications . Od this picture car was hit on parking so my head lamp is blury. I fixed everything exepct for the left headlamp which i couldnt find. So if anyone can tell me where can i find it? ANd it also needs to be shiped, because im in Serbia... Thanks

Really nice car :)
For the Headlamp you can ask here I'm sure someone can ship one to Serbia...
When back, you should take a look behind the rear side panels for rust-traces also you should do some "preventing" (wax or so [e.g. Mike Sanders^^])
would be very sad to see this car dying by rust oO

Thank you :).

I must confess, i was a bit lazy and front left side panel stayed damaged for 6-7 months !!! It cought no rust as if it was hit few days earlier. When i fixed it, i sent it for polishing, to fix some lines and rock dots. My mechanic told me that the body is in a great sheap. We looked under every carpet.

I have one question... Appi comes with 185/60 r14, even with that size ride is very poor. Now i got 185/65 r14 and its almost like riding a boat. Lively engine makes it good on straight but ride makes me seasick in corners. Honesly ride was very disappointing from thee first moment.

Should i change the springs? I changed schocks 25k km ago. Now ive got KYB Excel G, but still, feeling is poor. Makes me very unsecure on highway over 130kmh.

Nice Applause ! My Brother haves a 98 model too. With H&R lowering-springs (-35mm) the handling is really good, but less comfortable

You also can use 15" Wheels with wider tyres (but i don't know the exact tyre dimension, sorry).

Should be 195/45R15 in Dimension if it's the same as for Applause I. Also you can try 205/40R15 but these ones are expensive. Look for Daihatsus Accessories catalogue, there should be some Aluminum Rims so you have a concrete proposition for the exact dimesions (Applause I has Rims in 15" and width of 7J)
Lowering the Chassis is a good idea the little decrease in confort is egalized by a good increase of stability and much less "body roll"
The Kayaba Shocks are a good choice althought we had some Users here which had problems with leakage shortly after having them installed (several thousand kms) well you will see. If you switch to H&R lowering springs you also should chance the upper spring mountings this also makes a sensible difference

Stupid question, but not quite unimportant: Did you check for correct tire pressure? If it's too low, you can get Seasick as well.

@bluedog Its not a stupid question:). I check pressure every 2-3 months, and its allways good, about 2.3bar depending on weather.

@frog Ill surely change wheels first. But can u tell my what are the exact mesures for wheels? I dont wont to get too wide tyres, because of the consumption.

I found Rota(JDM ftw :))15", 6.5J but ET35. I think that will touch side panels. About springs, are there any aftermarket ones for Applause. I heared i could put some for toyota corola.
