Oil in spark L7

Hello i changed spark in L701 and i noticed that in white part of spark was an oily.Is this a problem?
How i can fixed it?
Thanks

There is a rubbergasket inside the valve cover - heat, age and oil destroy it over the years ... better look for another valve cover to fix that problem .

Greetings Mo .

Hello i changed spark...

Are you referring to a spark plug?

dmpatanis 10.02.2020 23:26

Oily spark not in thread but in white end.
I notices 3 orings in valve cover?

Bauer_Sucht_Sau 11.02.2020 08:55

I see, now. The oil film is found on the engine's exterior. The rubber gaskets tend to become brittle. I had to replace mine also. They are not expensive

Yes but except of the rubber gasket there are and o rings rubber in spark plugs?

Bauer_Sucht_Sau 12.02.2020 08:27

No. The sparkplugs use a metal gasket. The oil is likely seeping out from one or both valve covers and is settling around the lowest point which is the sparkplug area. This was a typical fault with a similar FIAT design

Ok.Very beautiful motor.
If i want to not have oily spark i must change only the cover gasket?

Bauer_Sucht_Sau 12.02.2020 13:02

Yes. Before you remove the sparkplugs, you should apply solvent sourounding the plugs. Then, blow away the solvent and oil, using compressed air. Otherwise, you will risk debris entering the cylinder when the sparkplug has been removed

As long as the Ignition works, you can save the money. On my L251 (same engine), I had always some Oil on top of the Spark Plugs. Never had an Issue with that.

As far as I know, there is pretty much no EJ-engine, which doesn't have that Oil seal leak against the spark plug, no matter if new or old.

Just wipe the Spark plug connector clean when it has been taken out.
